![]() Quality Park says it is the largest supplier of envelope and mailing products to the U.S. office supply channel.
With more than 2,500 stock items, President Sandy Moyer says Quality Park is the largest supplier of envelope and mailing products to the U.S. office supply channel. “We do everything from business envelopes to large catalog-style envelopes to traditional [envelopes with a] string and button,” she says. Moyer says the company was founded in St. Paul, Minn., 88 years ago, where it has remained since. Today, Quality Park is part of Cenveo Inc., a graphic communications company based in Stamford, Conn. Cenveo acquired the company in 1996. Quality Park manufactures more than 25 million envelopes daily, Moyer says. In addition, the company’s customer base ranges from office supply distributors to wholesalers and superstores, including OfficeMax, Staples Inc., United Stationers Inc., S.P. Richards Co. and Unisource Worldwide Inc. It has grown its North American footprint, Moyer says. Quality Park has manufacturing and distribution facilities in St. George, Utah; Beresford, S.D.; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Exton, Pa. It also has a manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Fla., and distribution houses in Atlanta and Toronto. Moyer adds that the company uses paper supplied by International Paper Co., based in Memphis, Tenn. In addition, Quality Park has partnered with DuPont, which supplies Tyvek, a unique substrate that is tear and moisture resistant. “We are the world’s largest converter of envelopes made out of Tyvek,” she adds. “It’s perfect for anybody who needs durability in mailing.” Moyer’s days at Quality Park go back to 1984, when she joined International Envelope Co. “They were one of the first companies to produce envelopes made out of DuPont Tyvek,” she remembers. International Envelope and Quality Park merged two decades later. She says Quality Park strives to maintain its status as the leader of its industry. “We use our envelope expertise to provide mailing solutions to our distributor customers, offering new [and exciting] products that can meet consumers’ needs,” she says. Of her team, Moyer praises Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Jim Bettinger. “He leads our sales and marketing efforts in this office products channel, and has been instrumental in many of the new product ideas and successes,” she says. In addition, Quality Park’s customer service representatives are required to possess industry and product expertise, so they can properly evaluate and determine the right products for its clients. “They can offer [our clients] alternatives,” Moyer says. The company’s sales force also pays regular visits to its clients, on site. “Our sales force regularly meets with all of our accounts to share our envelope expertise with them,” she says. A newly developed line at Quality Park are envelopes that address the latest changes in postal regulations. “The U.S. Postal Service moved to a shape-based mailing rate this past March,” she states. With the current postage rates, “If your envelope is more than one-fourth of an inch thick and larger than six-and-one-eighth by 11-and--one-half, you’re going to be charged additional postage as a ‘large envelope’ or ‘flat mailer,’” she says. Quality Park’s new Postage Saver Envelopes can be overstuffed while staying below the upcharge’s limit. The company introduced the envelopes this summer, and is expanding their reach. By January, “They’re going to be in multiple office supply catalogs throughout the country,” she explains. Quality Park also has developed the first envelope with an antimicrobial coating, Moyer says. “It helps guard against the growth of bacteria,” she explains. With the advent of the Internet, Moyer says Quality Park had to adjust to consumers using fewer envelopes. This resulted in the company offering all sorts of new, value added items, such as envelopes with self-sealing closures, high strength envelopes, oversized package mailers, bubble mailers and CD sleeves. The newest and one of the most exciting new products is “Reveal and Seal.” This revolutionary new patented product offers a self sealing envelope with adhesive that will last four times longer than a latex envelope. Reveal and Seal is being introduced this fall to the company’s office supply distributors. Moyer says Quality Park plans to continue expanding its offerings. “As a leader in the envelope and mailing category, we plan to be a solution provider, thinking outside the box, and providing our customers with the widest variety of products anywhere,” she says. |
