| Hunt Construction Group: A Great Group |
| Friday, 29 February 2008 | |||
![]() In addition to the University of Phoenix Stadium, Hunt Construction says it has completed four of the six stadiums with retractable roofs in the United States.
After more than 63 years, Hunt Construction Group says it offers services that cannot be equaled by its competitors. “None can match Hunt’s level of experience, leadership and dedication to the commercial construction industry,” the company declares. Based in Scottsdale, Ariz., the company’s services include general contracting, construction management, design/build and program management. Its projects have included arenas, casinos, government buildings, schools and stadiums with retractable roofs. Founders Paul B. Hunt, Arber B. Huber and Harry S. Nichols started the company in 1944 as Huber, Hunt & Nichols. Shortly after its founding, Huber and Nichols left the company, and Hunt continued on as its only owner. Nine years later, Hunt gave leadership of the company to his son, Robert C. Hunt, an engineering graduate of the Case Institute of Technology. In the years that followed, Huber, Hunt & Nichols established a construction management department and the Hunt Paving Co. to perform road and interstate projects. In 2000, the company assumed the Hunt Construction Group namesake. Five years later, Hunt’s son Robert G. Hunt assumed control of the company and today remains its chairman and CEO. The company operates with the goal of being a company “that makes a fair profit, has heart for its employees and is dedicated to total customer satisfaction,” Hunt Construction states. “We will provide long-term relationships that enhance the value of our services, and we will endeavor to provide our clients with substantial economic value.” The company completes approximately $1.8 billion worth of work each year and averages between $6 and $8 billion of work under contract at all times. “We have never failed to complete a project,” it adds. The company recently completed work on the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., which is home to the Arizona Cardinals. According to Hunt Construction, the stadium is the first in the country to have both a retractable roof and a rollout natural grass field. The multi-purpose stadium contains more than 1 million square feet. In addition, it features five levels that include a service floor, moveable playing field, meeting rooms, and game day, tourism and sports authority offices. The company has received raves for its work on the stadium. Vice President and General Counsel of the Arizona Cardinals Michael J. Bidwill recommended that others consider Hunt Construction for their projects. “Not only will you have a construction firm with tremendous experience, but perhaps, more importantly, a partner that can provide valuable assistance as you work through the public process to receive approval on your project,” he said in a statement. In September 2006, the company reported that it received the Special Jury Award from Southwest Contractor magazine for its work on the stadium. According to Hunt Construction, winning projects are chosen by such criteria as quality of design construction, innovation, contribution to the industry, the ability to overcome challenges and overall excellence. The mission of the Wellness Community of Central Arizona is to help those who suffer from cancer and their loved ones with a program of support, education and hope. The new center, the company says, will provide teens facing cancer with an environment where they can benefit from healing programs, activities and expanded technology. |
