Gilmore Construction LLC is known as a premier framing contractor in Las Vegas that prides itself in versatility because it does not specialize in a specific area of wood framing, co-owner Larry Gilmore Jr. says. “Here at Gilmore Construction, we are fortunate to have arms that span far enough to acquire whatever product is necessary to complete a job for a customer and know that product well,” he says. The company performs a range of projects, from residential housing for a few thousand dollars to multimillion-dollar commercial buildings, multifamily condominiums and apartments. About 95 percent of its projects are for repeat customers. “No project has ever been too large, or too small, to warrant Gilmore Construction’s undivided attention,” he says. “Many customers rely on our knowledge and working relationships with architects and engineers to make a great project better,” Gilmore continues. “Through our value-engineering and pre-construction analysis, we avoid most problems that typically arise during the project.” To set itself apart and become versatile, Gilmore obtained a C8 license in Nevada, which allows him to install windows for developers and contractors, Gilmore says. The company created a separate entity – Windows Install LLC – that allows it to take the liability away from the framing company and also have skilled personnel totally focused on not only window installing, but innovating the process all together. It used to be typical for framing contractors to set all the windows for a project, he explains, but in recent years, as a result of litigation involving the overall credibility of the window, framing contractors stopped offering this service to avoid liability. “We are hopeful that in time, we as window professionals will be able to iron out and take away the advantage lawyers have had with frivolous lawsuits concerning windows in the past,” Gilmore says. “With the advances in window manufacturing and installation, we will be able to better the industry as a whole and have a greater satisfaction and peace of mind from contractors and also the [end-users].” “The commercial and multifamily market that we performed work in for many years has remained strong, and Gilmore Construction has already picked up a few large multifamily projects for 2008 while still framing a fair number of housing tracts,” Gilmore says. “This leaves Gilmore Construction in a somewhat better position than most and unaffected, where some of the strictly residential framers must branch into new areas of expertise and a new customer base.” The company’s mission is to build the best and most reliable product possible in a short amount of time, and to achieve total customer satisfaction, Gilmore says. It has a reliable and motivated staff that is dedicated to the company and being a part of a well-organized team, as well as making a difference in the industry. “We have built many long, outstanding relationships with our customers and trade partners based on our ability to perform and succeed in any project we are awarded,” he says. Third-party OSHA-certified consultants oversee the company’s safety program. “We take pride in knowing our customers and employees feel [they’re] in good hands,” Gilmore says. Gilmore Construction’s commitment to the “qualities of perseverance, determination, drive and [the] ability to succeed definitely stands out to those who do business with us,” he continues. Company History Gilmore Jr. started working at Gilmore & Martin when he was 16 years old. By the time he was 18, he was involved in many areas of the company, including framing, joisting, stacking, sheeting, piece work and heavy machine operation. Today, Gilmore is an estimator/project manager and holds three licenses – straight B license, C3 and C8 – and is a managing member of Windows Install LLC. The company is involved with the Associated General Contractors and Framing Contractors Association, in which Gilmore holds a seat on the board of directors. “Both organizations are well-established and fundamental in staying united as an industry, and working together to ensure only the best product is being constructed,” he says. |
